Hey guys! I had to go to an appointment this morning with my rheumatologists’s PA. He is one of my favorite doctors, he is super kind and understanding (he has crohn’s).
We talked about my disease and I told him about the pain levels and how I’m still having bad flares. He decided to put me on a new medication, Methotrexate to see if that combined with my Hydroxychloroiquine will help regulate my symptoms and flares. It was a good visit but I just hate having to take moor medicines.
Some of the symptoms I’ve been having are body temperature changes from hot to cold (back and forth a lot). I am presenting symptoms of Raynauds, not as intense as the photos you see on the internet. For those who do not know what Raynauds is, it is when the blood vessels in the fingers and toes narrow when cold or stressed. It can also cause discoloration of the hands and feet.
It has come to my attention that in the last post I mentioned being a Spoonie but I forgot to explain what that is. A spoonie is a term for someone suffering a chronic illness or invisible illness. it originates from Christine Miserandino’s Spoon Theory: that a person only has a handful of spoons per day and every activity requires a certain amount of spoons. Once you run out of spoons you must rest before you can gain more back. As a self identified spoonie. there are days that I run out of spoons in the middle fo the day but am forced to keep going because I am at school or work. Those are my hardest days. I hope this brief explanation helped!
Now, as to why the tittle of this post is about plants. This past weekend I became the proud mother of a small little herb garden. I have been wanting to plant some plants on my balcony since I moved in but the timing has not been right. This past weekend I was with my family and my next-door neighbor gave me some herbs to start my little garden. I also got Aloe Vera from my mother. It is a family garden practically.
All of my plants have names: there is Rosie the Rosemary, Minnie the Chocolate Mint, Jane the Sage, Peaches the Parsley, Minerva the Mint, Tommy the Tomato, Hagrid the Basil, Johnny the Oregano, the smaller Aloe Vera is Susan and the bigger bot is the Twins (because there are two small ones in it). These guys are all on my balcony. In the kitchen is Ollie the Aloe Vera (yes I have a lot of aloe plants) and on that balcony is Samwise the Garlic Chive. In my room is Penelope the Pathos and Ronald the Aloe Vera.
They are all my cute plant babies and they all have different meanings and properties that enhance my home and life. They make me happy and help me to deal with what’s going on by taking care of something so beautiful.
One other beautiful thing happened this last little while, my cousin had her bridal shower. I am so incredibly grateful for my family and their love and support. She is going to make a lovely bride and I am so excited to see her wonderful day. I hope to one day have a special day with that special someone as well.
As always thank you to those who got all the way to the end of my blog post! It really helps me to see that people are reading this. I hope you have learned something today (maybe that I really like aloe vera plants) and that you have a wonderful day!
